Toledo
Toledo is one of the most important centers of medieval Spanish history. The first report about its existence is provided by Livy, who describes it as a small fortified city. And that strength has always been an important parameter of its history, still evident, because you can still see the walls that surround it, and if so they would not have been sufficient to fend off enemies, there are the swords of Toledo, world-famous, to do the rest.
Toledo was the capital of Spain in the Gothic period until 1560, when the capital moved to Madrid. This explains the impressive medieval architecture it has. Walking through it is like going back in time and land in the Middle Ages, in the best sense of the word.
